Michael Wilcox
Principal Cloud Engineer @ Magellan Health Services
Principal Cloud Engineer with roots in enterprise storage and UNIX systems
engineering, now focused on AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code,
and platform automation.
Three decades of experience designing, implementing, and operating enterprise
infrastructure, from UNIX systems engineering and large-scale storage environments
to modern cloud platform engineering. Strong advocate for cloud-first architecture,
infrastructure as code, and automation-first operations, leveraging Terraform,
CloudFormation, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines to build and operate reliable,
scalable platforms.
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure and storage platforms serving multiple datacenters nationwide.
- Own infrastructure-as-code delivery and cross-team project execution, from architecture through 24/7 production support.
- Deployed, configured, and managed SAN storage (EMC VMAX/VNX, IBM V9000/DS8886) across Windows, VMware, Linux, and AIX hosts.
- Designed storage solutions to business requirements; led SAN configuration, zoning, and troubleshooting on Brocade and McData fabrics.
- Managed SAN storage (EMC Symmetrix/DMX/VMAX/Clariion, Hitachi USP/USPV/AMS, IBM XIV) in one of the world's largest SAN environments.
- Implemented replication and DR (SRDF, BCV, TrueCopy, Shadow Image); provided 3rd-level SAN support across Windows, VMware, Linux, AIX, Solaris, and HP-UX.
- Managed McData fabric and EMC Symmetrix storage infrastructure; coordinated firmware maintenance and SAN monitoring.
